- What reading level are the animal names?
- Mostly three-to-six-letter names a new reader can sound out — cat, frog, sheep, panda. A handful run longer (giraffe, kangaroo, squirrel), which gives stronger readers something to hunt for too.
- Can preschoolers who can't read yet join in?
- Yes, with a small change: the caller shows the slip while saying the animal's name, or makes its sound. Matching the spoken animal to a printed word is exactly the bridge pre-readers need.
- How many sheets does the full set use?
- Seventeen pages in all: a cover, fifteen sheets of cards at two per sheet, and one page of call slips. Print only the page range you need if a small group is playing.
- Which animals are in the pool?
- A mix of farm, forest, safari, and ocean animals — from hen and goat to koala, rhino, dolphin, and crab. All 40 are listed on the call slip page, which doubles as a checklist.
